Big Lots is set to hold a ribbon cutting and grand opening at its Jefferson City location next month, offering special savings for customers.

The event is set for Dec. 10. Shoppers have the opportunity for doorbuster offers, while the first 1,000 through the door will get scratcher cards with the chance to shave up to $250 off of their purchase. Both opportunities will run through the opening weekend from Dec. 10-11.

"Our team has been working hard to bring the Jefferson City community an amazing new store, and we're so glad the day is finally here," Big Lots President and CEO Bruce Thorn said. "We've put a lot of thought into the layout, design and presentation to make the experience the best it can be. Whether they're new to Big Lots, or haven't visited in a while, we hope that shoppers will stop by during our grand opening weekend to meet our friendly associates and explore the store."

The new 30,000-square-foot location, formerly the local Best Buy, opened its doors late last month for a soft opening. The store offers a wide selection of products, everything from decor and furniture to clothing and toys. It carries both exclusive and national brands on various products.

Big Lots, a national retail chain, has two dozen other Missouri locations, including one in Columbia. It has more than 1,460 total stores and is headquartered in Ohio.

This latest location takes the place of the former Best Buy, which closed its doors last fall after more than a decade. The transition from one big box store to the other was relatively easy, having lasted through the summer.

Big Lots is located at 3225 Missouri Blvd. It is open daily from 9 a.m.-9 p.m.
