Girls Soccer: Capital City 8, Ruskin 0

KANSAS CITY -- The Capital City Lady Cavaliers are the No. 1 seed in the Class 3 District 7 soccer tournament.

They played like it Saturday afternoon.

Capital City jumped out to a 6-0 lead at the half on its way to an 8-0 victory against eighth-seeded Ruskin in a contest ended early by the mercy rule.

Gia Pardalos recorded her fifth hat trick of the season in the win, with two of her three goals coming in the first half. Tatum Barger, Brooklynn Greene, Rylea Sanning and Kaylee Loethen also scored in the opening 40 minutes of the contest.

Pardalos made it 7-0 before a goal by Kourtney Blatz ended the contest 18 minutes into the second half.

Capital City (17-5) will take on fourth-seeded St. Michael the Archangel (14-7) at 5 p.m. Monday in the semifinals in the tournament hosted by Pembroke Hill. St. Michael the Archangel, who finished second in Class 1 last season, advanced with an 8-0 victory against Raytown South in its opener Saturday.

Capital City defeated St. Michael the Archangel 2-1 in a home game April 11.

The district title game is scheduled for 6 p.
