Incumbent continues fundraising advantage in Missouri House 59th District

George Bacon of Jefferson City, who is trying to unseat incumbent Rep. Rudy Veit of Wardsville in the Republican primary for Missouri House District 59, received only $1,125 in contributions to his campaign in recent weeks.

The most recent campaign finance filings, required to be filed with the Missouri Ethics Commission by July 25, show Bacon only had one contribution of more than $100 (state law requires candidates to list contributors whose give $100 or more in the aggregate to their campaigns). That contributor for Bacon was Dianne Luebbert.

Filings showed he spent $334 for gas while campaigning over the past four weeks, and about $685 for signage and door hangers.

Veit's campaign continued a wave of fundraising successes. Filed at deadline, his "8 Day Before Primary Election" document showed contributions of $10,950 to reach a total of $66,041 for the election period. The campaign also spent $33,208 during the period.

The campaign spent $1,432 on newspaper advertising, and $30,982 on other advertising products, according to the latest report.

Contributors of more than $100 to his campaign included: Missouri Realtors PAC, $1,000 ($2,000 in the aggregate); Missouri Chamber PAC, $1,500; Thomas Kampeter, $1,000; MO Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers PAC, $1,000; Rural Telecommunications Comm PAC, $1,000; Rightpath PAC, $1,000; Missouri Dental PAC, $750; Missouri CPA PAC, $500; Missouri Beverage PAC, $500; Missouri Pork PAC, $500; Missouri Medical PAC, $500; Credit Union PAC, $500; Shamrock PAC, $300; Missouri Corn Growers Association State PAC, $300; Missouri American Water Employees PAC, $250; Chris Graham, $125; and Bill Spencer, $100.  photo  Veit
