The seventh annual Battle of the Brews will boast a night full of live music, games, food and, of course, beer.

The event will begin at 4 p.m. Saturday at the Capital Region MU Healthcare Amphitheater, 300 Ellis-Porter Drive.

Those attending can taste beer from participating commercial and home brewers, and vote on their favorite from 4-8 p.m. The winners of the beer tasting will be announced at 8:30 p.m.

Commercial brewers participating in the event include: Last Flight Brewing Company, Urban Chestnut Brewing Company, Logboat Brewing Company, Bell's Brewery, Bee's Knees Brewing Company, Public House Brewing Company, O'Fallon Brewing Company, Schlafly and Muddy Bank Brewing.

The home brewers being featured are: StörmCröw Brewing, Jefferson Ale Works, Yellow Otter Brewing Company, Four Score Brewing, Forck Brewery, Mile Marker Brewing Company, The Huntsman's Lodge Brewing Company, Sheldon Jackson, ALARA Brewery, Fullstack Brewing Co. and Loki Brewing.

Live music will begin at 4:30 p.m., starting with tunes from Those Guys, followed by Jefferson City band Magnolia Wine.

This year's food vendors include Rebel Tacos, Pizza Kwik Food Truck, Wrap It Up, Ready Popped Popcorn, Curry 'N' Grill and MidMoSno-Tropical Sno.

There will also be cornhole, raffle prizes -- such as a wagon full of beer, cornhole boards and more -- and a stein-holding contest, which involves participants holding a stein of beer at arm's length for as long as they can.

"It's just a fun time," said Allison Owen, marketing committee chairwoman for Battle of the Brews. "Come out and have a fun time with friends and listen to some music and drink some beer."

This year's evening is being put on by the Jefferson City Area Chamber of Commerce, joined by other sponsors such as Xtream Powered by Mediacom, Zimmer Communications, KRCG and more. The benefiting organizations are the Rape & Abuse Crisis Center, Building Community Bridges, Jefferson City Public Schools Foundation and Court Appointed Special Advocates.

Tickets for the event can be purchased in advance at battleofthebrewsjc.com for $35, or at the event for $45. Each ticket includes unlimited beer tastings, a souvenir cup, voting tickets and admittance to live music. The event is only open to people ages 21 and up.
