CLINTON -- The Tipton Lady Cardinals had their nine-game winning streak come to an end Tuesday with a 53-51 loss to the Clinton Lady Cardinals in pool play of the Clinton Tournament.
The score was tied at 13 at the end of the first quarter. Tipton began the second quarter on a 10-0 run, but Clinton battled back to tie the game again at 28 at halftime.
Tipton closed the third quarter on an 11-0 run to lead 47-35 going into the fourth. Clinton ended the game on a 14-0 run, scoring the winning basket on a putback with :14 remaining.
Myra Claas led Tipton with 18 points, followed by Briar Cox with 17 points.
Tipton (14-4), ranked No. 6 in Class 3, continues pool play at 7:30 p.m. today against Adrian.
