Your Opinion: Some GOP acknowledge election was not stolen

Dear Editor:

The Jan. 10 HuffPost article "GOP Senator Triggers Trump By Telling The Truth About The Election," ought to be read by all "stop the steal" Donald Trump supporters.

Sen. Mike Rounds, R-South Dakota, stated flatly in an ABC interview, "We simply did not win the election." Trump's response, "I will never endorse this jerk again." Typical toddler behavior.

Sen. Rounds is not alone in not buying Trump's big lie that Biden stole the election. The article mentions other Republican senators who also aren't buying it: Josh Hawley (Missouri), Tommy Tuberville (Alabama), Rick Scott (Florida).

That the 2020 election was stolen is just one of approximately 30,573 lies Donald has told in recent years (Washington Post: "Trump's false or misleading claims total 30,573 over 4 years," Jan. 24, 2021).

I wish the "stop the steal" folks would realize who the real (would-be) thief is -- the same guy, via his devotees, who is now attempting to steal the 2024 election using voter suppression statutes and other means.
