Boys Basketball: South Callaway 54, North Callaway 53

MOKANE -- Trynnen Gray made a pair of free throw with about 10 seconds remaining Friday night, lifting the South Callaway Bulldogs to a 54-53 victory against the North Callaway Thunderbirds in the fifth-place game of the South Callaway Tournament.

North Callaway led 34-29 at halftime. The score was tied at 12 after the first quarter and at 42 by the end of the third quarter.

Three Bulldogs scored in double figures, led by Trynnen Gray’s 13 points. Tayber Gray had 11 points, Trace Helsel tallied 10 points and Sam Buckner grabbed 10 rebounds.

Sam Pezold led North Callaway (7-5) with a game-high 21 points.

Trynnen Gray and North Callaway’s Matthew Weber made the all-tournament team.

South Callaway (8-5) hosts Wright City on Tuesday.
