Boys Basketball: Rolla 85, Helias 69

ROLLA -- Gage Klossner scored 31 points Friday, leading the Rolla Bulldogs to an 85-69 win on Senior Night against the Helias Crusaders.

A fast-paced first quarter featured a total of 48 points, as the two teams were tied at 24 through eight minutes. Malcolm Davis made five 3-pointers in the opening quarter for the Crusaders.

Rolla opened the second quarter on an 11-2 run and never let go of the lead, as Klossner scored seven straight points in that stretch.

The Bulldogs led 41-36 at halftime and 57-49 through three quarters. The Crusaders got within six at 63-57 with 5:30 to play after Desmond White made 3-of-4 free throws, but Klossner and Ty Locklear made back-to-back 3s, pushing the Rolla lead to double digits at 77-63 with 2:51 to play.

Davis led Helias with 25 points, making seven 3s. White added 18 points, going 9-of-11 from the free-throw line, and Henry Neuenswander and Trey Bexten each finished with nine points.

Rolla (8-7), which dropped out of the Class 5 state rankings, had four players score in double figures. In addition to Klossner, Adam Hounsom finished with 17 points, followed by Locklear with 15 points and Luke Foster with 11.

Helias (5-8) will play Bishop DuBourg at 4 p.m. today in the Mid-Missouri Invitational at Harrisburg.

In the JV game, Helias defeated Rolla 53-44.
