Malson to lead special teams at Lincoln

The Lincoln Blue Tigers have added another assistant to their new football staff.

On Tuesday, coach Jermaine Gales announced Andrew Malson has joined his staff as the special teams coordinator and tight ends coach. Malson comes to Lincoln after serving as a special teams analyst and assistant recruiting coordinator at Old Dominion.

“Coach Andrew Malson has a great football mind,” Gales said in a statement announcing the hiring. “He brings a mentality to the staff that aligns with our vision and production goals.”

Malson is a graduate of Westminster, earning all-conference honors twice as a center for the Blue Jays. He also was the offensive coordinator for the Blue Jays in the 2016 season. He then was the defensive coordinator at Fairleigh Dickinson, then coached linebackers at Stony Brook before going to Old Dominion.

He has also served as a defensive assistant at Missouri Western.

Gale’s staff also includes defensive coordinator Joseph Carter and offensive line coach Rafael Aguilar.
