Boys Basketball: Rolla 62, Blair Oaks 50

ROLLA -- The Rolla Bulldogs used a big second half to come away with a 62-50 victory Friday against the Blair Oaks Falcons.

The Bulldogs led 12-6 halfway through the first quarter, but a pair of Zach Henry 3-pointers tied the score at 12 before an Alec Wieberg layup beat the first-quarter buzzer and gave the Falcons a 16-15 lead after one.

Blair Oaks continued to hold its lead through a low-scoring second, holding Rolla to just five points to take a 25-20 advantage into halftime.

The Falcons held the lead until Easton Smith connected on a layup to end the third quarter and give Rolla a 41-40 lead going to the fourth.

The Bulldogs stretched out their lead in the fourth, leading by as much as 12 on three occasions en route to the victory.

Henry led the way for Blair Oaks with 19 points, while Ryan Glavin finished with 14.

Rolla (5-2) was led by Ethan Brown’s 29 points and Luke Foster added 19.

Blair Oaks (3-3), ranked No. 7 in Class 4, will host Class 4 No. 9 Fatima on Tuesday. The varsity doubleheader will start with the girls game at 6 p.m., followed by the boys contest at 7:30 p.m.

Blair Oaks picked up a 62-50 win in Friday’s JV game against Rolla.

Jaxon Engelbrecht led the way with 15 points for Blair Oaks (4-2).

The Falcons also picked up a 50-39 victory in the freshman game against Rolla to stay perfect on the season.

Three Blair Oaks players reached double figures, as Sam Closser led the way with 15 points, Logan Hoffman had 13 and Carson Luebbering chipped in 11.

The freshman Falcons (5-0) will return to action at 5:30 p.m. Monday for a home game against Fatima.
