After a decade in business, the Jefferson City location of Dick's Sporting Goods is set to permanently close its doors at the end of the year.

A notice posted within the store says Dec. 31 will be its last day in operation, though it noted the closure only applies to the Jefferson City location. Employees said inventory would be transferred to nearby stores rather than being cleared through any special deals in the lead-up to the closure.

Management and corporate communications did not respond to a request for additional information.

The sporting goods store on Stoneridge Parkway opened in November 2012, bringing a new retail option for a wide variety of apparel for teams and athletes, as well as items for outdoors enthusiasts.

The retail chain has other locations at 4635 Osage Beach Pkwy. in Osage Beach and 227 N. Stadium Blvd. in Columbia.

The Jefferson City store is located at 739 Stoneridge Parkway.
