Kansas City man charged with theft, resisting arrest

A Kansas City man faces multiple charges in Cole County following an incident that occurred last week.

Tramelle Blocker, 44, was charged with stealing, possession of a controlled substance and resisting arrest.

A Jefferson City Police Department probable cause statement said authorities responded to a call about a theft at Capital Mall on Friday afternoon. Dillard's employees said Blocker had been seen trying to push a cart full of unpurchased items out of the front door.

Police saw him walk out with two carts full of items and, when they told him to stop, Blocker began to flee on foot. He made it to a vehicle in the parking lot and tried to drive away before an officer pulled him out and tried to place him under arrest. Two other officers reportedly helped place Blocker under arrest as he refused to comply.

A powdery substance was found on his person, and he admitted it was cocaine, the statement said.

Court records show Blocker had a full extradition warrant out from Oklahoma for previous charges.
