Girls Basketball: Linn 48, Belle 42

EUGENE -- The Linn Lady Wildcats won a closely contested battle Wednesday, defeating the Belle Lady Tigers 48-42 in the loser’s bracket semifinals of the Eugene Tournament.

Linn led at the end of each quarter: 7-5 after one, 18-16 at halftime and 35-31 through three quarters.

Aushara Hostetler scored a game-high 20 points for the Lady Wildcats. Vivien Baker added eight points.

Belle had a balanced scoring attack, as Victoria Busch had eight points and Anastyn Lansford and Morgan Willis each scored seven points.

Linn (1-2), the No. 3 seed, will play fifth-seeded Eugene in the fifth-place game at 5:30 p.m. Friday.

Belle (1-2), the No. 7 seed, faces eighth-seeded Vienna in the seventh-place game at 4 p.m. Friday.
