The Jefferson City Council will consider funding for several projects and could make a decision on putting two taxes to a citizens' vote during Monday's meeting.

Pending bills

The City Council will review and consider placing Jefferson City's half-cent capital improvement sales tax renewal on the August ballot. This would be a continuation of the current sales tax, from 2022-27, with new projects attached.

Additionally, four council members will submit for consideration a quarter-cent public safety sales tax, which would also go on the August ballot. It would produce an estimated $2.8 million annually for public safety purposes, according to the bill summary.

Council members are set to make a decision on the same topics discussed during the early public hearing.

New bills

The council also will consider a series of new bills during Monday's meeting.

One bill would authorize $16,956 for new dishwashers and dog kennel flaps at the Jefferson City Animal Shelter.

Another bill would authorize a $959,700 construction contract with Martin General Contractors LLC for an upgrade project to the Binder Pump Station.

Council members will also consider a $39,519 contract with Schindler Elevator Corporation to make elevator repairs at the city's main parking garage on Madison Street.

Public hearing

The council will hold a public hearing about rezoning 98.5 acres in the 700 block of Partnership Parkway from M-1 light industrial to M-2 general industrial. The M-2 distinction allows for more outdoor storage and other high-impact uses without prior review.

The council also will hear a bill that would authorize the final subdivision plat in the area, which basically delineates property boundaries for the land, and a second bill that would prohibit parking on that stretch of road.

The council will consider vacating a portion of general utilities easement at 7050 Partnership Parkway. This land does not have utilities on it, according to the bill summary.

The Jefferson City Council will meet in-person Monday but with a virtual option due to COVID-19 and social-distancing recommendations.
