A systemwide network and telephone failure challenging Jefferson City-based Capital Region Medical Center went into its fifth day Tuesday.

The outages continue to affect telephone and computer systems.

No solution is yet in sight.

The hospital's board was to discuss the outage at Tuesday evening's meeting, Board Chairman Carlos Graham said Tuesday afternoon.

Meanwhile, many callers to the hospital continue to receive busy signals. When calls go through, staff are unable to transfer to specific departments.

The hospital reported Friday that it discovered "unusual activity" within its phone system. It shut down its network as a precaution.

CRMC posted instructions for getting prescriptions refilled on its Facebook page Tuesday afternoon. The refills were only available Tuesday.

"For patients that are completely out of medication and are in need of medication refills, Capital Care Pharmacy and Capital Care Pharmacy-Versailles are able to dispense seven-day supply, non-controlled substances," the post said. "Patients must bring their prescription bottle with them."

People wishing refills were asked to call the pharmacies in advance.

Presiding Cole County Commissioner Sam Bushman said uncertainty at CRMC led Cole County Emergency Medical Services to briefly divert patients to another hospital over the weekend.

Cole County EMS Chief Eric Hoy would not comment on the situation, deferring questions to administration at the hospital.

CRMC administrators did not respond to multiple calls and emails from the News Tribune concerning the outages.
