Eugene girls pick up 66-55 victory vs. New Bloomfield

NEW BLOOMFIELD — The Eugene Lady Eagles began Show-Me Conference play Monday with a 66-55 road win against the New Bloomfield Lady Wildcats.

Eugene, which opened the season as the seventh-ranked team in Class 2, held a 13-7 lead after one quarter and 24-17 at halftime.

New Bloomfield closed the gap to 42-39 by the end of the third quarter, but the Lady Eagles won the scoring battle 24-16 in the final eight minutes, coming up with eight points in the closing two minutes.

Olivia Angerer led Eugene with a game-high 18 points. Kaylee Kempker scored all 13 of her points in the second half and Ashlynn Kliethermes tallied 10 points.

For New Bloomfield, Asya Nichols had a team-high 15 points, Avery Nichols followed with 13 points and Ellie Emerson added 10 points.

Eugene (3-3, 1-0 Show-Me) will try to extend its win streak to three games Thursday when it hosts School of the Osage.

New Bloomfield (3-3, 0-1 Show-Me) will turn around and host Belle today.
