Prep Softball: Russellville 15, Versailles 3

RUSSELLVILLE, Mo. - The Russellville Lady Indians banged out 15 hits Monday in a 14-3 victory in five innings against the Versailles Lady Tigers.

After giving up two runs in the top of the first inning, Russellville answered with five in the bottom half of the inning. The Lady Indians then plated two in the second to make it 7-1.

In the third, Versailles tallied its final run before Russellville scored its final seven in the bottom of the frame.

It's the fifth time Russellville has scored 10 or more runs in a game this season.

Cali Coombs had four hits - all singles - to lead the Lady Indians. Kayln Smith had three hits, while Reagan Jenkins and Ryleigh Case added two each. Case's hits were a double and a triple, with Jenkins' hits both being doubles.

Case totaled four RBI. Jenkins drove in three runs and Smith had two RBI.

Smith got the win, working the first three innings. She allowed three runs on three hits and a walk while recording two strikeouts. Cambell Backues pitched the final two frames, striking out one.

Versailles got two hits and two RBI from Taylor Bice. Kierra O'Rourke also had two hits for the Lady Tigers.

Russellville (6-2) will play today at St. Elizabeth.

Versailles (4-4) hosts California today.
