A traffic stop early Sunday morning led to the arrest of a Jefferson City man on illegal drug charges.
Alohn Griffin, 39, is charged with delivery of a controlled substance and unlawful possession of drug paraphernalia.
Officers reportedly saw Griffin fail to use his turn signal twice near the 700 block of Kansas Street, according to a Jefferson City Police Department probable cause statement.
After stopping Griffin, an officer asked him to get out of his vehicle. When he did, a syringe was reportedly seen in the driver's side door. An officer with a K9 arrived to assist, and the K9 made a positive alert on the vehicle.
Officers searched the vehicle and found a brown satchel with numerous syringes inside along with a substance believed to be heroin.
Located under the front passenger seat was reportedly $12,670 in cash, all in $10 and $20 bills.
When questioned by authorities, Griffin said his wife is diabetic and the needles belonged to her, according to JCPD reports. He also claimed the money belonged to his wife. Griffin allegedly said she "sells guns."
