The Missouri Department of Health and Senior Services will hold a public forum to discuss how the Medical Marijuana Program should regulate medical marijuana vaping (e-cigarette) products.

Marijuana use associated with vaping has been connected to cases of pulmonary disease brought on by use of e-cigarettes. As of Dec. 10, 2,409 people had been hospitalized because of lung injury caused by vaping, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.

Health officials have confirmed 52 deaths related to vaping, including two in Missouri.

The forum is scheduled for 5:30-7 p.m. Jan 9 in Room 450 of the Governor Office Building, 200 Madison St. in Jefferson City.

DHSS is now accepting public comments regarding regulation of medical marijuana vaping products. Public comments may be submitted electronically on a form found at health.mo.gov/safety/medical-marijuana/rules.php.

More information may be found at medicalmarijuana.mo.gov.

The deadline to submit comments is Jan. 13.
