Digital Bookmobile to stop at MRRL

It’s traveled more than 200,000 miles, and now the Digital Bookmobile is scheduled to make a stop in Jefferson City.

The 42-foot-long traveling exhibit provides devices, internet connectivity and expert guidance to local libraries’ digital collection of e-books and audio books. Launched in 2008 in Central Park, New York, the exhibit has been featured in 900 events.

It will be at the Missouri River Regional Library, 214 Adams St., from 10 a.m.-4 p.m. Oct. 30.

The bookmobile will explore digital services available in Jefferson City. Equipped with interactive workstations, touchscreen activities and devices that allow sampling of titles, it has everything a reader might need to get started browsing MRRL’s digital catalog of e-books and audio books.

Interactive learning stations feature video tutorials.

A “Gadget Gallery” contains popular devices — such as an iPhone, iPad, Android phone and tablet, Chromebook, and Kindle — for visitors to use to browse the library’s digital service.

Library staff and e-reading experts will be on hand to guide visitors through processes.

Tours are free and open to the public.
