Lincoln men look to add to win streak

The Lincoln Blue Tigers look to continue their climb toward a spot in the men's MIAA Postseason Tournament this afternoon when they host the Nebraska Kearney Lopers.

Lincoln (10-10 overall, 4-7 MIAA) and Nebraska Kearney (9-10, 5-5) are slated for a 3:30 p.m. tip at Jason Gym.

The Blue Tigers will bring a two-game winning streak into the contest, including a 77-56 win Thursday against the Fort Hays State Tigers.

Lincoln is currently 11th in the conference, but just one game out of a tie for eighth. The top 12 teams in the MIAA regular season standings advance to the postseason tournament.

The Lopers have won their last three games, including a 67-64 victory Thursday at Lindenwood. Trey Lansman had 18 points and 10 rebounds in the game for the winners. Lansman, a 6-foot-7 senior, is averaging a double-double this season at 22.2 points and 10.1 rebounds.

Nebraska Kearney is averaging 77.9 points per game and allowing 77.6.

Nebraska Kearney has won the last six meetings in the series with Lincoln, which won the first four.

The women's game between Lincoln (3-16, 0-11) and Nebraska Kearney (15-3, 7-3) will start the action at 1:30 p.m. All three of the Lopers' losses have come on the road.

Lincoln fell 65-56 to Fort Hays State at home Thursday. Bre Coleman had 17 points and nine rebounds for the Blue Tigers in the game.

Nebraska Kearney is coming off an 80-78 victory Thursday at Lindenwood. scoring the game-winner with :02.8 remaining. The Lopers rallied in the fourth quarter for the victory, the eighth time they've done that this season.

Michaela Barry (5-foot-7 senior) had 33 points in the victory, her third performance of 30 or more points of the season. She enters this afternoon's contest averaging 17.9 points per game.

The Lopers are outscoring their opponents by an average of 75.2-64.2 this season.
