Schedule set for Lincoln's football return to MIAA

The Lincoln football team released its 2019 schedule Tuesday, marking its return to the Mid-America Intercollegiate Athletics Association.

All 11 games on the schedule are against MIAA opponents. The Blue Tigers' season opener is Sept. 7 at Washburn.

Lincoln will host Missouri Southern for its home opener Sept. 14. It is one of six home games on the Blue Tigers' schedule.

Homecoming is Oct. 19 against Northeastern State.

Other home games for the Blue Tigers include Emporia State (Sept. 28), Nebraska-Kearney (Oct. 12), Fort Hays State (Nov. 2) and Missouri Western (Nov. 16).

The remaining schedule of road games are at Central Oklahoma (Sept. 21), Pittsburg State (Oct. 5), Northwest Missouri (Oct. 26) and Central Missouri (Nov. 9).

Game times have not been announced.

The Blue Tigers are taking over Lindenwood's football schedule during the second year of a two-year scheduling cycle. The Lions are leaving the MIAA after this school year and will play next season in the Great Lakes Valley Conference.

Lincoln was last a member of the MIAA for football in the 2013 season, when the Blue Tigers posted a 3-8 record.
