MoDOT awards contract for several road projects

The Missouri Highways and Transportation Commission has awarded contracts for improvements to several roads in Mid-Missouri.

U.S. 63 in Maries, Osage and Phelps counties

Capital Paving and Construction was awarded a contract to mill and resurface U.S. 63 between Rolla and Vichy, and between U.S. 50 and Missouri 28. The company submitted the low bid of $4,830,238 for the contract.

Work on each project will take place in the summer and may require occasional temporary lane and entrance closures in the work areas.

Missouri 17

Vance Brothers was awarded a contract to microsurface a nearly 50-mile stretch of Missouri 17 between Iberia in Miller County and Roby in Texas County, after submitting the low bid of $2,325,494. The project is scheduled to take place sometime next year.

Intersection improvements in Osage County

The intersection of U.S. 63 and Missouri 133 north of Westphalia will undergo improvements, under a contract approved by the commission.

The project includes the realignment of the intersection to improve sight distances for motorists, as well as adding right-turn and left-turn lanes from U.S. 63 to Missouri 133 and a left-turn lane from U.S. 63 to Main Street in Westphalia. An adjustment to the alignment of Main Street will also be done.

Capital Paving and Construction was awarded the contract, after submitting the low bid of $603,556. The project is scheduled to take place as early as spring.

Projects in Boone and Callaway counties

Christensen Construction was awarded a contract for improvement projects on several Boone and Callaway county roadways after submitting a low bid of $4,448,174. The work will be done in the following locations:

Boone County Route Y - Pavement and shoulder improvements between Route M in Ashland and Route J in Callaway County.

Missouri 163 - Shoulder improvements from Route K to Route H.

Pavement improvements in various areas along Route N and Route WW in Boone County, and Route F, Route J, Route MM and Route NN in Callaway County.

When the work will begin has not been determined. When a start date is established for all these projects, MoDOT will alert the public about the projects through signs, news releases and social media.
