CrimeStoppers tip leads to capture of wanted man

Jefferson City police are crediting a CrimeStoppers alert for helping to capture a wanted man.

Officers got a call around 5:15 p.m. Tuesday in reference to seeing Jimmy Bittle III in the 1700 block of Jefferson Street, according to police reports.

Jefferson City Area CrimeStoppers had announced Monday morning there was a $400 reward for information that would lead to the arrest of Bittle, who was wanted on six active felony and one active misdemeanor warrants for his arrest. The warrants were from various jurisdictions totaling $134,000 in bond.

Authorities went to the area where Bittle was spotted and found him hiding in the woods. After a short foot pursuit, officers took him into custody.

Bittle now faces new charges of resisting arrest and possession of drug paraphernalia.
