by Associated Press | May 30, 2017 at 12:40 a.m. | Updated July 10, 2017 at 4:21 p.m.

A Lohman man and his passengers were able to get out of the boat they were in at the Lake of the Ozarks before it sank Monday morning.

Missouri Highway Patrol report shows the incident occurred at 9:30 a.m. at the 12 mile marker of the main channel in Camden County.

The boat was a 37 foot Power Quest 370.

Chad Stockman, 44, left a cove and was headed upstream when he started to smell smoke. He stopped the boat and inspected the engine where flames were found to be coming out of the exhaust boot.

Stockman and his passengers were unable to extinguish the flames and were transferred to another boat.

The Stockman boat burned to the water line and sank.
