College Track: NAIA national qualifiers

William Woods junior Madelyn Scrivner and Columbia College junior Grace Young were announced Friday as official qualifiers for the NAIA Indoor Track and Field National Championships, which will take place next Thursday through Saturday at Johnson City, Tenn.

Scrivner (Eldon High School) is a first-time qualifier for the Owls at the indoor championships and will be one of 27 competitors in the women's weight throw. Scrivner's throw of 52-feet, 13/4 inches during last weekend's American Midwest Conference championships earned her a spot at nationals.

Young (Russellville High School) will be making her second straight appearance at the NAIA national championships, but this year she will be one of 17 competitors in the women's 3,000-meter run. Young posted a qualifying time of 10:27.51 last month at the Principia Relays.

At last year's national championships, Young finished ninth in the 5,000-meter run while competing for William Woods.
