Prep Wrestling: Helias places 16th

HARRISONVILLE, Mo. - The Helias Crusaders had seven top-10 finishes Friday and Saturday at the Harrisonville Christmas Tournament.

Helias posted 423 points to finish 16th out of 34 teams. Seneca won the team title with 717.5 points, followed by Mexico (691), Carthage (680.5) and Raymore-Peculiar (644.5).

Jackson Careaga had the Crusaders' top individual finish, placing fourth at 152 pounds. He won each of his first five matches before suffering a 5-4 defeat in the semifinals. He forfeited the third-place match due to injury, finishing the tournament with a 5-1 record.

Nick Schnieders finished fifth at 160, recording a 4-2 record, while Nikolai Careaga placed sixth at 170 with a 4-2 record. Gavin Adams and Zack Carr each placed seventh, with Adams posting a 4-3 record at 106 and Carr finishing 4-3 at 132.

Other finishers for the Crusaders include Aleksey Salaz placing ninth at 113 (5-1 record), Noah Wieberg finishing 10th at 195 (4-3) and Nick Casten taking 17th at 182 (1-4).

Nate Distler also wrestled at 152 for the Crusaders, finishing 16th with a 2-6 record.

Helias wrestles next in the Kinloch Classic held Dec. 29-30 at Parkview in Springfield.
