Lady Crusaders defeat St. James 49-35 in Sullivan Tourney

SULLIVAN, Mo. - The Helias Lady Crusaders never trailed in Friday's third-place game at the Sullivan Tournament.

Helias scored 18 points in the first quarter and led by double digits at halftime, coming away with a third-place plaque and a 49-35 win against the St. James Lady Tigers.

The Lady Crusaders shot 57 percent from the field in the first eight minutes to lead 18-9. Both teams combined for 11 points in the second quarter, with Helias leading 24-14 at halftime.

Helias was ahead 36-26 through three quarters and led by as many as 16 points midway through the fourth quarter.

Ellie Rockers posted a double-double of 14 points and 10 rebounds. She also grabbed six of the Lady Crusaders' 12 steals in the win and blocked three shots.

Erin Wyrick added 13 points, while Catherine Conley and Lauren Alexander each finished with nine points.

Helias (3-5) won't play again until Dec. 28 when it hosts Eureka in the first round of the State Farm Holiday Hoops Invitational at Rackers Fieldhouse.
