Nield wins Black Hawk Invitiational

WARRENTON - Andrew Nield of Thomas Jefferson won the boys race at the Black Hawk Invitational on Tuesday, finishing with a time of 9:13.

The Thomas Jefferson boys finished fifth in the team standings with 98 points. Braden Voss finished 11th (10:02), Ryan Padberg took 23rd (10:23), Blake Allee came in 31st place (10:47) and Henry Stier was 36th (10:59).

The Thomas Jefferson girls took second place with 58 points, just two points behind meet champion Wentzville.

Thomas Jefferson finished with three runners in the top-10, led by Chasity Pendleton, who took third in 10:46, and Alyson Linhardt, was was fourth in 10:47. Marilyn King came in ninth (11:04), Carrington Stilabower was 21st (11:39) and Elizabaeth Dunn finished 27th (11:58).

Lewis and Clark also competed at the meet. The boys team finished sixth in the standings with 153 points, led by Ethan DuBois, was finished eighth in 9:52.

Toby Hughes came in 25th place (10:35), Jimmy Knoll finished 28th (10:41), Nathan Phillips took 52nd (11:28) and Blake Butel crossed the finish line in 54th place (11:31).

The Lewis and Clark girls took eighth place with 211 points and were led by Sophia Bruce, who came in 28th place with a time of 12:13. Laney Hager finished 42nd (13:27), followed by Angelica Long in 44th (13:49). Michaela Kiesling took 47th (14:47) and Samantha Hidlebaugh came in 50th place (15:38).

Both Thomas Jefferson and Lewis and Clark will be back in action Saturday at the Capital City Cross Country Challenge at Oak Hills Golf Center.
