Dear Editor:
Thank you Rep. Jay Barnes for standing up against a bill to set up a government database of all prescription drugs Missourians take.
Thank you, too, Missouri Alliance for Freedom for opposing this government overreach.
No database of my medications. No bureaucrats of the Department of Health and Senior Services monitoring my legal prescriptions. And I don't care that Missouri is the only state without a Prescription Drug Monitoring Program (PDMP). Maybe we are just smarter than the rest of the country and will not gladly give up our privacy rights.
We don't need a "system [that] will catch people before they form addictions." Emphasis added. The medications I take are between my and my physician. Period.
