Jefferson City man gets 10 years after pursuit

A Jefferson City man was sentenced to 10 years in prison for pleading guilty to charges in connection with a pursuit with authorities in Cole County in January.

Turner Murrell, 25, will have his sentence run concurrent with all other Department of Corrections sentences he is currently serving. He must also pay $5,000 in restitution.

According to reports from the Cole County Sheriff's Department, deputies initiated a pursuit of a stolen vehicle that had been reported taken from the Eugene area.

The pursuit started in Wardsville and went south on Route B. It continued to Osage Bend, turning onto Route W.

The sheriff's department had units in place at Route W and South Rock Creek and deployed spike strips, but Turner turned on a private drive and was apprehended in the 9200 block of Winkleman Patz after hitting a fence.
