HANNIBAL, Mo. (AP) - The driver of a pickup truck is being treated for injuries after his vehicle slammed into the front of the newspaper office in Hannibal, Missouri, while fleeing police.
Several employees were inside the Hannibal Courier-Post building when the accident happened about 7:15 p.m. Monday, but none were hurt. The truck driver, 62-year-old Sterling Owens, was issued several citations.
Police told the Courier-Post (http://bit.ly/2h1zYux) that the pickup was speeding during a chase when it knocked a traffic signal off its base before slamming into the front glass doors of the newspaper office that sits near the Mark Twain Historic District.
The front of the building is badly damaged but production of the newspaper is unaffected.
The chase began when officers tried to question Owens following a domestic disturbance call.
