LSU takes first two from MU in baseball

COLUMBIA, Mo. — The Missouri Tigers will look to salvage the final game of their SEC baseball series against LSU today after dropping games Friday and Saturday at Taylor Stadium.

On Saturday, LSU used a pair of big innings to defeat Missouri 9-5

LSU scored three runs in the top of the fourth to take a 4-2 lead, then broke a tie at 4 with five runs in the seventh.

Four Missouri players — Connor Brumfield, Jake Ring, Zach Lavy and Trey Harris — had two hits each in a 10-hit attack, One of Harris’ hits was a home run.

Tanner Houck took the loss, pitching 6 1/3 innings. He allowed eight runs (all earned) on six hits and five walks while striking out eight.

On Friday, Missouri dropped a 7-5 decision to LSU.

Lavy had three hits and two RBI for Missouri. Ring, Brett Bond and Marquis Doherty each had two hits.

Reggie McClain took the loss on the mound, allowing seven runs on 10 hits and a walk while striking out three in seven innings.

Missouri (20-17 overall 4-10 conference) and and LSU (24-11, 8-6) wrap up the series at 1 p.m. today (ESPNU-TV).
