7 injured in pair of Monday accidents

Two Belle residents were injured in a one-car accident at 9:25 p.m. Monday on Route D, east of Missouri 89 in Osage County.

According to the Missouri Highway Patrol report, a 1998 Ford Escort, driven westbound by Justin D. Miller, 33, went off the side of the road, struck an embankment, returned to the road and came to rest.

Miller was arrested and taken to the Osage County Jail where he faces multiple charges, including DWI, failure to display a valid license plate, no insurance, failed to secure a child, possession of marijuana and endangering the welfare of a child.

A passenger, Olivia L. Miller, 7, was treated at the scene.

• Five people were injured in a two-vehicle accident at 12:45 p.m. Monday on Missouri 7, north of Route T in Camden County.

The patrol reported a 2008 Pontiac Grand Prix, driven northbound by Jeffrey D. Grosvenor, 40, Camdenton, attempted to pass a vehicle in front of his vehicle. He noticed an oncoming vehicle in the southbound land and applied the brakes and overcorrected back into the northbound lane, causing a skid. His vehicle traveled off the right side of the road and then back onto the roadway while beginning to spin across the center line. The vehicle then struck a 2014 Nissan Altima, driven southbound by Jenna M. Brocksmith, 20, Philo, Ill.

Grosvenor was taken to Lake Regional Hospital in Osage Beach. Brocksmith and two passengers, Madson K, Brocksmith, 11 and Jaycie M. White, no age given, also were taken to Lake Regional Hospital. Another passenger Alyssa M. White, 11, was taken to Mercy Hospital in Springfield. All passengers in the Brocksmith vehicle were from Philo, Ill.

Everyone except Grosvenor was wearing seat belts.
