Both westbound lanes of U.S. 54 in Cole County are open again after a car crash knocked down power lines this evening, blocking traffic.

The westbound highway at Old Bass Road south of Brazito was completely closed down immediately following the crash, which occurred around 7 p.m. One westbound lane was reopened a short time later, but by that time, holiday weekend traffic had backed up for miles.

Both westbound lanes were open again around 9 p.m.

The Missouri Highway Patrol is investigating the crash. See the crash report at http://www.mshp.dps.mo.gov/HP68/AccidentDetailsAction?ACC_RPT_NUM=150302684
