Galleries highlight special exhibits for 'Art Around Town'

For several years Capital Arts has sponsored an evening gallery crawl. This year the name has been changed to Art Around Town to represent the galleries around Jefferson City.

There is no admission. Guests can start at any gallery between 4:30-8:30 p.m. Friday, April 10.

A list and map can be picked up at The Art Bazaar or Capital Arts Gallery prior to the event or visit www.capitalarts.org.

Seven galleries will be open each highlighting a special exhibit.

• Capital Arts Gallery 1203 Missouri Blvd., Jefferson City Art Club "Adult Art Exhibit" with reception.

• Lincoln University Fine Art Gallery, Memorial Hall, 818 Chestnut St., "Blue on Black" by Essex Garner.

• Elizabeth Rozier Gallery, 101 Jefferson St. "Oil & Clay" by Naomi Lear and Bo Bedilion.

• The Art Bazaar in the Village Square, 1502 E. High St., "Dynamic Mix of Art & Upcycling" featured metal sculptor Joe Malesky.

• Missouri River Regional Library, second floor gallery, 214 Adams St., featured artist David Caywood.

• Miller Performing Arts Center: Railton Gallery, 501 Madison, Jefferson City High School Advanced Art Show.

• Gumbo Bottoms Ale House and Gallery, 221 Madison St., featured artist Jennifer Neff with reception.

An Art Around Town After Party is at Gumbo Bottoms to meet and mingle with guests and artists starting at 8 p.m.. Light snacks and live music will be provided.
