Helias students participate in Rotary event at the Capitol

Helias Catholic High School students Kylie Mulholland and Matt Branch represented Helias at the Rotary Student Government Day at the Capitol. Mulholland and Branch were selected by AP American National Government Teacher Tom Emmel for their excellence in the classroom and potential to impact the state of Missouri in their future endeavors.

"Rotary government was not only an educational experience but also motivational," Mulholland said. "We began our day with a visit to Rep. Jay Barnes' and Sen. Mike Kehoe's offices. Then we visited the Senate and witnessed the House in action. After this, we were given a tour of the Supreme Court. We concluded our day with lunch at the Capitol Plaza Hotel featuring guest speaker State Treasurer Clint Zweifel.

"I am grateful to the Rotary for this opportunity and encourage others to become involved with the Rotary."

Branch spoke about his experience by saying, "It was a wonderful day to meet and converse with local leaders. They gave us insight into what they do in office and current issues they face. The Rotary Club provided a great experience that I won't forget."
