College Softball: Bears go 2-2

NORMAN, Okla. - The Missouri State Bears went 1-3 in the Courtyard Marriott Tournament during the weekend, splitting two games with Samford and losing to Oklahoma twice.

Missouri State started the event with a 2-1 loss to Samford on Saturday.

Erin Struemph (St. Elizabeth High School) took the loss in relief, giving up one earned run on two hits while striking out two in 11/3 innings.

Later on Saturday, the Bears lost 10-0 to Oklahoma in a game shortened to five innings. Paige Parker threw a perfect game for the Sooners, striking out three. It was her second of the season, making her the first Sooner in history to pull off the feat of having more than one in a year. She needed just 64 pitches to get seven groundouts, three popups, two flyouts, two swinging strikeouts and two strikeouts looking.

Struemph started and took the loss, giving up three earned runson four hits and three walks. She struck out one.

On Sunday, the Bears opened with an 8-6 win against Samford as Struemph got the win. She pitched 51/3 innings in relief, giving up three earned runs on four hits with three walks and two strikeouts.

Missouri State then closed the event with an 11-0 loss to Oklahoma in five innings. Struemph got the loss, allowing three earned runs on four hits and three walks in two innings in the circle. She struck out one and is now 3-5 on the season.
