Elder moves into Round of 32 at Missouri Amateur

HOLLISTER, Mo. - Tanner Elder advanced to the Round of 32 at the Missouri Amateur with a win Thursday.

Elder, who just wrapped up his junior year at Blair Oaks High School, defeated Kory Bowman of Springfield 2-and-1 in the opening round of match play.

Elder was 4-up after the first five holes against Bowman, a former Jefferson City Jay. Bowman then cut the deficit in half by winning two of the next three.

Elder went 3-up with a birdie on No. 12 before Bowman birdied No. 13. The two then swapped wins on Holes No. 15 and 16 before Elder closed the match by matching Bowman's par on No. 17.

Elder will now take on Wilson Sundvold of Columbia in the Round of 32 this morning. Sundvold advanced with a 3-and-2 victory against Patrick Britt of St. Louis.

Elder was the lone area player to advance out of stroke play, tying for 34th with a 6-over 146.
