Your Opinion: More about abortion

Dear Editor:

An interesting letter appeared in the Dec. 6 paper, concerning delaying abortions can cause additional complications for the women. To be very clear, all abortions, except for a very few, cause death to the unborn child.

Remember that your dear ruler, while in the Illinois legislature, voted "present" on a bill to allow late-term abortions.

This bill passed banning late-term abortions with Obama not voting with the majority to ban late-term abortions. One would think that a self-professed expert on the Constitution would realize that abortion denies the unborn child the "right to life."

If you can say that the Constitution bars a business from refusing to serve a homosexual, then how come that same amendment doesn't protect the unborn child from being murdered?

Just because SCOTUS ruled in 1973 that women have the right to terminate their pregnancy, doesn't mean it's right!

This would not be the first nor the last time that this august body got it wrong. Remember Plessy v. Ferguson where they ruled that states that had separate but equal accommodations for blacks, was constitutional. The 3/5 compromise which appeared in Article 1, Section 2, paragraph 3 of our Constitution, declaring that for the purpose of representation in the Congress, slaves would only count towards a state's population as 3/5 of a person. Even the Robert's court got it wrong on Obamacare.

I realize that SCOTUS has become the arbiter of what the Constitution says concerning various subjects, but they too are human and can be wrong in their decisions.

If our Constitution doesn't embrace theology, then why are there laws against murder, except when the victim is an unborn child? Why is Christmas day, the day we celebrate the birth of Jesus Christ the Savior of the world, a national holiday? Why is the motto of the USA, "In God we Trust" and is printed on our currency? Why do many businesses give their employees the Friday before Easter off as a holiday? Why are there Scripture verses chiseled into the walls of our Capitol Rotunda?

The Christian "religion" was the very "bed rock" of the founding of this great country. Those that say otherwise are fact deniers.

As I have said in earlier communications, when our Legislature can eliminate abortions, I applaud their actions. It is another baby, which has the opportunity to grow up and live life.
