Boys Tennis: Jays go 1-1

COLUMBIA, Mo. - The Jefferson City Jays finished 1-1 on Friday in the Columbia Duals.

The Jays blanked C.B.C. 9-0.

Singles winners against C.B.C. were David Clausen (6-1, 6-0); David Steinmeyer (6-7 3-7 set tiebreak, 6-2, 12-10 match tiebreak); Spencer Bone (6-1, 6-0); Dane Biesemeyer (6-2, 6-3); Isaac Roling (6-0, 6-0); and Joey Mendez (6-0, 6-2).

Doubles winners were Clausen and Biesemeyer (8-4); Bone and Roling (8-0); and Steinmeyer and Karsten McMillan (8-1).

The Jays fell 7-2 to Edwardsville, Ill.

The wins for the Jays both came in singles matches - Bone (6-4, 2-6, 10-6 tiebreaker) and Mendez (7-5, 6-2).

Falling in singles were Clausen (6-1, 1-6, 7-10 match tiebreaker), Steinmeyer (2-6, 2-6), Biesemeyer (1-6, 4-6) and Roling (6-7 5-7 set tiebreak, 6-4, 7-10 match tiebreak).

Falling in doubles were Clausen and Bone (7-9), Roling and Biesemeyer (3-8), and Steinmeyer and McMillan (7-9).

The Jays (8-1) return to action Wednesday at Hannibal.
