Blair Oaks falls at baseball tourney

COLUMBIA, Mo. - The Blair Oaks Falcons dropped a pair of baseball games Saturday in the Columbia Tournament.

Blair Oaks wrapped up pool play with a 5-4 loss to Rock Bridge.

The Falcons scored two runs in the top of the first inning. Jordan Hair doubled before moving to third when Adam Schell reached first on an error. Hair then scored on a groundout by Brent Heckemeyer. Schell later scored on a single by Alec Sieg.

Rock Bridge got a run in the second before taking the lead with four runs in the fourth.

The Falcons then scored single runs in the fifth and sixth innings to make it 5-4.

In the fifth, Ryan Paschal reached on an error before Dalton Fifer doubled to put runners at second and third. Two outs later, Paschal scored on a balk.

In the sixth, Paschal singled to score Dylan Hoelscher, who had reached on a fielder's choice.

Jason Rackers took the loss. He worked four innings, allowing five runs on four hits and four walks while striking out three. Ethan Rackers pitched the final two frames, walking three.

Blair Oaks then dropped a 15-4 decision in five innings to the Hickman Kewpies.

Hickman led 2-1 after one inning and 3-2 after two. The Kewpies broke the game open with an eight-run third. After Blair Oaks scored twice in the top of the fourth, Hickman scored four times in the bottom of the inning.

Five Falcons each had one hit. Sieg, Jacob Wilbers, Mason Gipe and Hoelscher scored runs for Blair Oaks.

Bryce Pritchett got the loss on the mound. He pitched the first 2 2/3 innings, allowing 11 runs on eight hits and two walks while striking out four. Ethan Rackers pitched the final 1 1/3 innings, allowing four runs on four hits and a walk.

Blair Oaks (6-13) will host Warsaw in a Tri-County Conference contest at 5 p.m. Tuesday.
