Lady Jays win Hermitage Invitational title

HERMITAGE, Mo. - The Jefferson City Lady Jays placed five runners in the top 14 Saturday on their way to large-school team honors at the Hermitage Cross Country Invitational.

The Lady Jays finished with 33 team points to claim the title among the seven competiting teams in the division.

Kaley Ruff finished fifth in 20:48 to lead the Jefferson City finishers. Tori Bonnot was sixth in 20:52, while Lindsey Biesemeyer was eighth in 20:39 and Kenzie Gourley finished 11th in 21:10. Machaela Krause was 14th in 21:26.

On the boys side, the Jays finished third in the nine-team standings with 62 points. Bolivar was first with 33, while Kickapoo was second with 39.

Courtney Fitch paced the Jays, finishing fourth in 18:02. Four other Jays finished in the top 20 - Ethan Hart (eighth, 18:26), Josh Sabaka (12th, 18:43), Tucker Cox (18th 19:03) and Ethan Reed (20th, 19:10).

In the JV girls race, Jefferson City had the top seven finishers in posting a perfect score of 15. Natalie Vance won the event in 22:23.

The Jays finished second in the JV boys race behind Kickapoo. Dylan Fischer of Jefferson City finished first overall in 19:09.
