Probation for JC man in storage unit break-in

A Jefferson City man was placed on five years supervised probation for pleading guilty to charges in connection with the break-in at storage units.

Anthony Weathers, 36, of 5101 Business 50 West, was charged with one count of receiving stolen property and four counts of second-degree burglary.

Court documents show that authorities were called April 3 to Apache U-Store, 602 Geld St., where multiple calls about thefts from storage units had been received by the Cole County Sheriff's Department over the past few months. Property managers told authorities they now had suspects on video, which showed individuals stealing security cameras and going into storage units.

A unit rented by Weathers was searched, and cameras were found inside.

Authorities later towed a vehicle, which had more security cameras in the back seat, from Weather's residence.
