Your Opinion: Bewildered by commission's salary recommendation

Dear Editor:

Being a state worker and living on the tiny morsels that our elected officials give us and reading about their proposed eight percent pay raises for FY 2016 and 2017 made me wonder what morons are on this Citizens Commission on Compensation for Elected Officials.

Supposedly our state economy has not been that great since Gov. Jay Nixon has been in office. They do not deserve a pay raise, if our state's economy is not doing well or in the red. I also read that our Republican legislators want to block the pay raises while the Democrats have mostly kept quiet. Except for Rep. Mike Colona, a Democrat from St. Louis who acts like he desperately needs the pay raise.

Mike, your comment about normal constituents and their families wanting to change the world shows either your ignorance or your political ambitions. Were talking about Missouri not the world. If you're that desperate for money why don't you make a sign and stand at the Dix Road overpass and hope for donations from the vehicles that drive by. Better yet how about the Citizens Commission give the state workers our pay raises and we give you the one percent pay raise if the state budget can afford it.
