5 years for property crime, resisting arrest

A Jefferson City man charged with returning to the scene of where he hid stolen items in June 2013 was sentenced to five years in prison.

Wayne Ivory, 25, of 913 Cedar Way, pleaded guilty to receiving stolen property and resisting arrest.

A Jefferson City Police Department probable cause statement shows a burglary occurred in the 1000 block of Elizabeth Street, where televisions, DVDs, a laptop computer and clothing were taken.

Officers attempted to contact Ivory at a nearby residence, but he did not answer.

The day after the burglary, Ivory was spotted coming out of the residence by officers who had been maintaining surveillance.

He had grabbed the stolen items and began walking away with them draped over his shoulder.

Officers then identified themselves and ordered Ivory to stop. He refused and a foot chase ensued.
