Your Opinion: Response on abortion proposal

Dear Editor:

In response to Judy Baumgartner's letter of Dec. 28. U.S. Census statistics show births to unwed mothers is now 41 percent and the murder of unborn children through abortion has topped 57,000,000. Yes, 57,000,000!

HB131 addresses abortion and the rights of the father, not one's access, availability or freedom by both men and women to have sex when, where, with whom, or as they desire, depending on their moral code, if any. The existence of the child is never mentioned, it's all about me.

The bill addresses the right of the other 50 percent of the equation of conception, namely, the fathers of these unborn children. Why do they not have a voice in what happens to their child?

Your letter portrays all men as irresponsible, worthless, no-goods out only to have a good time and not willing to accept the responsibility of their actions. For those men who want a say in the life of their child are they currently legally allowed? The answer is a resounding no.

As to the cry "Women's Health", what could be more unnatural, unhealthy and devastating to a woman physically and psychologically than to end the life of her child by choice. This issue is not about access to medical help and health issues for women but taking responsibility for their actions and allowing the fathers of their child to the same rights as they.

Yes, a woman has a absolute right to make health decisions for herself but she does not have the right to make the decision for someone else to die, namely the child she has created in cooperation with a man.

Why are the men deemed "Irresponsible" while the women cry "Choice. Freedom. Women's Health?"
