Construction worker hit by vehicle

A construction worker was struck while out working on a project in Moniteau County Tuesday morning.

The Missouri Highway Patrol said Donna Calvin, 47, Clinton, was struck while flagging traffic on U.S. 50, just west of Route BB, around 8:12 a.m.

A vehicle driven by Travis Volkart, 19, Russellville, was stopped in traffic when a vehicle driven by Megan Doyle, 24, Sedalia, struck the rear of Volkart's vehicle.

After the impact, Volkart's vehicle struck Calvin, who was treated for serious injuries.

Volkart was treated for moderate injuries and was wearing a seat belt.

Doyle was also wearing a seat belt and had no reported injuries.

A Fulton man was injured in a two-vehicle accident at 4:45 p.m. Monday on U.S. 63 at Rolling Hills Rd in Boone County.

According to the Patrol report, a 2009 Infinity G37, driven southbound by Kathleen N. Dunn, 20 Springfield, attempted to cross both lanes of traffic to get into the J-turn and was struck in the rear by a 1999 Buell motorcycle, driven south by Brandon C. Irwin, 29, Fulton. Irwin was ejected.

Irwin was taken to University Hospital in Columbia. He was wearing a safety device and Dunn was wearing a seat belt.
