2 mine workers killed in Missouri accident

ST. LOUIS (AP) - Two mine workers are dead following an accident inside a mine in southeast Missouri.

Maj. Jason Schott of the Ste. Genevieve County Sheriff's Department says initial reports are that a boom collapsed about 9:45 a.m. Friday inside a lime mine operated by the Mississippi Lime Co. near the town of Ste. Genevieve, about 60 miles south of St. Louis.

Schott says no other details were immediately available. Names of the victims have not been released. Schott says there are no other known injuries.

St. Louis-based Mississippi Lime Co. makes calcium products and calcium-based solutions.
