Volleyball: Tolton 2, Calvary 1

COLUMBIA - Calvary Lutheran took it to three sets, but couldn't quite come up with the victory.

Father Tolton defeated Calvary 25-20, 20-25, 25-22 on Thursday.

Rebecca Thompson had 12 service points for the Lady Lions. She also has four aces while Krista Stanford had nine service points.

Emily Layson had seven kills and 16 digs while Jessica Stark had nine assists. Katie Goodin had two blocks.

The Lady Lions (5-10-1) host Smithton Friday.

Calvary lost Thursday's JV match 25-16, 25-12.

McKenzie Schulte had four service points, including three aces. Kyra Wiegers had one kill, Brooke Rollins had one assist and Ryoko Asakuma had 14 digs. The JV team is now 7-1 this season.

Calvary Lutheran defeated Niangua 26-24, 25-18 on Tuesday night.

Goodin paced the Lady Lions with four kills and three blocks.

Stanford had 10 digs while Kara Bernskoetter added eight service points and three aces.

Stark and Thompson contributed six assists apiece.

Calvary won the JV match 25-9, 25-11 to improve to 7-0 on the season.

Schulte led the way with four kills. Rollins had nine service poitns and six assists and Asakuma had six aces and seven digs.
